Kidney Disease & Acute Care

Our board-certified nephrologists provide comprehensive diagnosis, medical management, and long-term care for patients experiencing all forms and stages of kidney dysfunction. By blending decades of clinical experience with advanced diagnostic tools, we aim to preserve your natural kidney function whenever possible and guide you through complex renal conditions with compassionate, individual support.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Management

Chronic Kidney Disease is a progressive condition where the kidneys gradually lose their ability to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood. Because CKD often develops silently over time—frequently driven by underlying conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure—early detection and proactive management are critical.

  • Diagnostic Evaluation: Comprehensive laboratory testing, including blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and urine protein assessments to accurately gauge your current level of kidney function.

  • Disease Progression Control: Tailored medical strategies to slow the decline of kidney function through targeted blood pressure goals, optimized blood sugar control, and specialized medication protocols (such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or SGLT2 inhibitors).

  • Complication Management: Active prevention and treatment of common CKD-related complications, including renal anemia, mineral and bone disorders, secondary hyperparathyroidism, fluid retention, and metabolic acidosis.

  • Lifestyle & Dietary Guidance: Personalized counseling on renal nutrition, fluid intake, and lifestyle modifications designed to ease the workload on your kidneys and support overall health.

  • Patient Education & Advanced Planning: Empowering you with a clear understanding of your condition so you can make informed decisions about your long-term health, including early preparation for renal replacement therapies if necessary.

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Care

Acute Kidney Injury (formerly known as acute renal failure) is a sudden episode of kidney failure or kidney damage that develops within hours or days. It causes a rapid buildup of waste products in the blood and disrupts the body’s fluid and electrolyte balance. AKI often occurs as a complication of critical illness, severe infection, dehydration, surgical procedures, or medication toxicity.

  • Rapid Diagnostic Assessment: Immediate, thorough workups to identify the root cause of acute decline—categorized into prerenal (decreased blood flow), intrinsic (direct damage to kidney tissue), or postrenal (urinary tract obstruction) causes.

  • Intensive Medical Management: Hospital-based and outpatient interventions focused on stabilizing fluid balance, correcting severe metabolic disturbances, adjusting medication dosages, and removing toxic substances or nephrotoxic drugs.

  • Invasive Procedural Support: Ordering and interpreting urgent diagnostic imaging or performing renal biopsies when necessary to determine the underlying cause of unexplained kidney failure.

  • Temporary Renal Replacement Therapy: Initiating urgent, temporary hemodialysis or continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) for severe acute failure to perform essential kidney functions while the organ heals.

  • Recovery & Rehabilitation: Post-acute monitoring and follow-up care aimed at minimizing permanent scar tissue, restoring baseline kidney function, and preventing future episodes of acute damage.
