Dr. Lara Kfoury

Dr. Kfoury was born in Lebanon and moved to the United States in 2006. She received her medical degree from the Lebanese University in Beirut, and then did her internal medicine residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. She moved to Providence, Rhode Island where she received her Nephrology Fellowship training at Brown University.

During her residency at ETSU, she assumed the role of chief resident at Holston Valley Medical Center, and did some nephrology training at Vanderbilt. During her fellowship she received training in renal pathology at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston.

After working with the nephrologists at East Tennessee Medical Associates during her nephrology rotations in residency, she was very impressed with the group’s focus on individualized, dedicated patient care. She became aware of their fine work ethics, as well as the various responsibilities they assume from caring for chronic kidney disease, acute kidney failure, post-transplant follow up patients to making rounds at all dialysis centers in the Johnson City, Elizabethton, and Greeneville areas, and was compelled to join the group practice. Dr. Kfoury fell in love with the natural beauty of the area and the friendliness of the people, so she moved back to Johnson City and indeed became part of East Tennessee Medical Associates PC in 2011.

She currently lives in Johnson City with her husband Makram, son Samer, and daughter Sophie.
